Costa Calida Country
This webpage relates to inland Costa Calida centred on the city of Murcia including the towns and villages to the south and west of the province of the same name. Costa Calida Country This splendid region from the flat coastal plain right across to the imposing Alhama de Murcia is a mainly agricultural zone, with field after field of oranges, fruits, vegetables grown for export, many in acres of greenhouses to take advantage of the excellent weather. The area is extremely dry so water is brought to the area via canals and pipes to enable irrigation on a massive scale, plus supply the many homes.

Many golf resorts have sprung up nearer between Murcia and the coast where it's possible to get a round in twelve months of the year and leave the rest of the family happy stretched out by the swimming pool while you play. Murcia Airport is probably an hours drive from the city, literally right on the beach, so planes come into land very low over the Mar Menor. This provides excellent cheap flights to the region, especially from the south east of the UK.

Lots of the towns hold regular fiestas which are worth a visit if time permits on your vacation there, involving parades, carnivals, eating, drinking and firework displays. Several nature parks and reserves can be visited where you probably won't see anyone else all day long, so take a picnic and refreshments with you. Every town will have its bars and restaurants, mainly Spanish in the rural areas (the coastal resorts have a much wider selection), but besides serving traditional local cuisine, most have an international menu as well.

Properties are in abundant supply from old fincas and village houses further inland and nearer the coast to the newer communities developed specifically for the holiday home trade where you will be among all nationalities enjoying the warm weather whatever time of year. Please see the various town pages for more details of each locale.
