Formentera
The little island of Formentera is located just to the south of Ibiza in the western Mediterranean Sea giving it a perfect climate of hot summers and moderate winters, the perfect combination for the visitors from chilly northern climes. FormenteraThis Balearic Island has a population of less than ten thousand people (there are probably more visitors than locals in the peak season) and the only way to get there is via ferry so it's ideal for those tourists wanting a peaceful vacation.

This 32 square mile island is mainly low lying with tracks leading off to spotless beaches of white sand set amongst dunes, some of which are designated as naturist. Car hire is probably unnecessary, although many adventurous arrivals hire a scooter or moped to whiz about on.

Sightseeing and things to do are naturally limited by the size of Formentera, but watersports are relatively plentiful from the resort beaches or marinas and cycling is another popular pastime along a couple of dozen bike routes, there are a few museums, ancient towers, churches, tombs and art galleries if you get the desire a bit of culture!

Accommodation can be had in self catering holiday rentals or you can choose to stay for a short break or longer holiday in one of the hundred plus hotels dotted around Formentera which offer value for money stays especially outside the high season. There is an abundance of small bars and restaurants to enjoy the local cuisine and savour a drink under the shade of a parasol outside to watch the world go by.
