Costa Dorada
This part of the Spanish coastline south of Barcelona, running from Sitges down to l'Ametlla de Mar, known as the Gold Coast or Costa Dorada (Daurada in Catalan), Tarragona Province, Catalonia, Spain, is the location of several famous resorts and many other smaller and delightful villages worth a visit (full details will be found on each town page).Costa Dorada With plenty of long beaches of golden sand onto the warm blue Mediterranean Sea or small coves cut into the cliffs, it is a magnet for tourists from the colder European countries who come to soak up the sun in mostly cloudless skies for 9 months of the year. Specialist holiday hotels are to be found just about everywhere in all quality and price ranges with some offering just rooms or small serviced apartments for a family or party of friends.

If that doesn't appeal to you private villas can be rented and other holiday rentals are available for a completely self catering vacation.

Visitor attractions along the Costa Dorada are diverse and plentiful, with historical places (Roman, Religious, Medieval) such as towers, castles, museums, ruins to modern pastimes such as theme, safari and aqua parks, where people of all ages can spend a day or two enjoying some real thrills. Water sports (wind & kite surfing, snorkelling, skiing, jet skis) are enjoyed at many of the larger beaches or if a boat is required try one of the local marinas or fishing harbours. Inland other sports including horse riding, golf and even climbing can be enjoyed by the more adventurous amongst us.

The main Costa Dorada international airport is at Reus with a reasonable selection of flights available, if you can't find something suitable try Barcelona Airport an hour or twos drive to the north which boasts a vast choice Or Valencia a similar distance further south. Depending on the cost of transfers you may find car hire a cheaper alternative direct from the terminal and it will make it much easier to tour the Costa Dorada and see all the sights. If you are lucky enough to find yourself visiting during one of the local fiestas take some time out to join in the fun with firework displays, carnival parades and small fairs often included.
