Costa Calida
This region of Spain on the south eastern coast is part of the Province of Murcia, the name Costa Calida, means the warm coast. Situated south of the Costa Blanca, this are is as different from its northern neighbour as it could possibly be, with little of the mass construction and an unspoilt coastline.Costa Calida Stretching about 150 miles from San Pedro del Pinatar south to Aguilas the choice of resorts, scenery and beaches varies greatly, from the Mar Menor like a giant warm water pond, fringed by busy little beaches, coves among high cliffs to long stretches of sand dunes where you might be hard pressed to see anyone else.

As the name suggests the climate is ideal, the winters are mild and see little rain (usually about only one foot a year) then one long summer of endless sunshine, so the only greenery you will see has been irrigated.

Costa Calida accommodation is plentiful and varied, with the larger resorts full of good quality hotels and apartments to rent and other areas, including around the many golf courses holiday rentals, villas can be had which are excellent for large family parties. Tourist numbers are growing partly due to the numerous budget flights arriving at the compact Murcia International airport, which services an expanding number of countries.

The other options for air travel are Alicante or Almeria, but flights to these may add an hour or two's car drive to your journey time. Costa Calida tourist attractions are fairly abundant (although you won't find a water park in every small town), and there are a number of natural parks and reserves well worth a visit if time permits.

Buses and trains are extremely limited so if you want to get anywhere without a taxi, then car hire is quite reasonable with pick ups at the airports where you'll find all the big companies represented. Properties for sale are generally of a high quality with excellent prices and some real snips available, especially just a few miles inland where you'll see new communities springing up with all amenities.
