Local Attractions to La Duquesa: Located at the midway point between Marbella and Gibraltar, Puerto de la Duquesa has by and large escaped the package holiday scene with only private apartments available to holidaymakers.
The port is one of the more peaceful along the Costa del Sol. During the day the port boasts a wide variety of shops, and amenities. In the summer the port comes to life in the evenings with an excellent choice of bars with live music and entertainment, and an excellent range of top class, affordable restaurants providing cuisine from around the world, with freshly caught fish one of the most popular choices.
The port is situated between two blue flag beaches with chiringuitos and sunbeds, and are some of the cleanest on the Costa del Sol. More low key and relaxed than Marbella and Puerto Banús, the port has a relaxed family feel.
For sailors, the 328 berth marina offers a full compliment of facilities including a dry dock, hoist, 24-hour security and range of sailing services on hand locally.
The Robert Trent Jones designed 18-hole Duquesa Golf course lies in a privileged position, and offers the golfer breathtaking views of the sea, Gibraltar and Africa. Established in 1985, the course is well bedded in and demands concentration and accuracy to avoid the strategically placed trees and bunkers.
The 17th hole is one of the most demanding, and beautiful on the course requiring skill and accuracy. Whilst only 129 M long, the hole drops away from the tee by 30 M, and with the prevailing Poniente wind blowing presents a formidable challenge.
The region is perfectly situated for access to some of the most prestigious courses on the Costa del Sol. The highly rated Ryder Cup venue of Valderrama is closeby, as are Sotogrande , The San Roque Club, Almenara, Alcaidesa and Estepona.
At Duquesa Golf and Country Club you have a full compliment of facilities including snooker tables, squash courts, bowls lawn, tennis courts, a gymnasium, sauna and Jacuzzi, in addition to a yacht club.
