Local Attractions to Aracena: The area surrounding the property is famous for its walks, spring flowers, wildlife, history and unparalleled beauty. Castaño del Robledo, though tiny, is designated a village of ‘artistic and historical importance’ and retains the medieval layout and buildings from its heyday of 1550 to the early 1800’s. It is situated amongst forests of Cork Oak and Sweet Chestnut; Castaño del Robledo means “chestnut among the oak grove”. It is the highest village in the Sierra and the least spoilt. The main town of Aracena is only 15 minutes drive away.
The village church boasts one of the remaining original Baroque organs in Spain (recently restored but unmodified from original specification). From time to time there are organ recitals which attract musicians worldwide.
The permanent population is just under 200 people but the village is popular as a weekend retreat for professionals from Cadiz, Huelva and Seville
